The Williamson County Center for the Performing Arts (WCPAC) in Academy Park and the Williamson County Department of Parks and Recreation (WCPR) have announced three additional concerts as part of their 2022 summer tribute series.
The series features performers who celebrate and pay homage to the music of a particular artist or group. Three events have been added for August: Motor City Magic: Motown Tribute on August 6, Cash and Cline: Johnny Cash & Patsy Cline Tribute on August 13, and Twilight Train: Neil Diamond Tribute on August 20 August, all from 19:00 h.
Motor City Magic pays tribute to the record label that transformed American pop music: Motown. Three vocalists and a seven-member band will take the audience back in time with some of Motown’s greatest hits, including songs by top artists Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder, The Supremes and many more.
Kellye Cash and Family, backed by West TN Strangers, will perform the well-known songs of Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline. Follow the line with the classics and family stories of Kellye’s late uncle, the man in black. Her father, Roy Cash Jr., writer of “I Still Miss Someone,” will also perform several of Cash’s favorite songs. For 20 years, Kellye starred in the theatrical production “Always … Patsy Cline” and will mesmerize audiences with her rich, powerful voice. Her three children will also join Cash and Cline’s iconic songs. The tribute will end with an arrangement of “Will the Circle Be Unbroken” that can not be missed.
The Twilight Train band pays homage to Neil Diamond’s artistic creations and contributions with a list of high-energy songs that keeps the music as close as possible to the original releases. Without attempting to impersonate, the band strives to recreate the unique energy of a Neil Diamond show at each performance. Get on the train for a trip full of familiar sounds on a trip to memorable new destinations.
Tickets for each show cost $ 25 for adults and $ 22.50 for seniors (55 or older) and children 12 and under. Go to www.wcpactn.com to buy tickets and more information.
