Soon after shipyards introduce their new hulls, customers who reserve their construction often consult the company’s designers or third-party suppliers.
In fact, an overwhelming number of yacht owners have their boats customized before delivery. What most of us don’t realize is that similar services are also available for aircraft, as Comlux Completion points out.
As we’ve noted before and will say again, there’s virtually no limit to customization when money is never an issue.
Keep in mind that the goal here is to create a mind-blowing extravaganza and hope nothing else beats it for now. Take Project Thunderbird for example: an Airbus ACJ319neo.
Why settle for a cramped private jet when you can travel like the elite you are aboard a passenger jet?
Overseeing every aspect of this opulent Comlux renovation, renowned British interior designer Colin Radcliffe. The plane’s unnamed owner allegedly found the standard trim too pedestrian for his liking.
According to Radcliffe, what inspired the cabin’s overall look is a vintage Macassar ebony chair by Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann. With his contributions to the Art Deco movement in mind, Comlux’s Thunderball Project embodies the iconic retro look of an era before air travel became mainstream.
“From this, I made drawings inspired by a bygone era of travel, as glamorous and elegant as a 1930s Odeon-style ocean liner,” shares the designer. “I loved the idea of the layers of veneer combined with books and unlacquered brass fixtures that gain a patina with age.”
The Thunderball project is just one of several already underway. Given the challenges imposed by the different models they work with, completion may take more than a year.
Comlux Completion has partnered with Jet Aviation to ensure everything is ready for installation even before the aircraft arrives at the hangar.
