Here is the statement released by the Duke of Sussex in full.
“As we celebrate the life of my grandmother, Her Majesty the Queen, and mourn her loss, we are all reminded of the guiding compass she was for so many in their commitment to service and duty.
“She was admired and respected worldwide. Her unwavering grace and dignity remained throughout her life and now her eternal legacy.
“Let’s echo the words she said after the death of her husband, Prince Philip, words that can now comfort us all: ‘Life, of course, is about last goodbyes and first reunions.’
“Grandma, although this final parting brings us great sadness, I am forever grateful for all our first meetings, from my earliest childhood memories with you, to first meeting you as my commander in none, until the first moment.you met my dear wife and hugged your dear great-grandchildren.
“I cherish these moments shared with you and the many other special moments in between. We already miss you so much, not just us, but the whole world. And as for first reunions, we now honor my father in his new role as King Charles III.
“Thank you for your commitment to service. Thank you for your good advice. Thank you for your contagious smile.
“We, too, smile knowing that you and Grandpa are reunited now, and both together in peace.”
