Twitter is getting an update with some new features.
CEO Elon Musk took to the platform on Tuesday to announce the launch of several new features, including encrypted messaging and calls.
With the latest version of the app, you can reply by DM to any message in the thread (not just the most recent one) and use any emoji reaction.
Encrypted DMs V1.0 should be released tomorrow. This will increase in sophistication quickly. The acid test is that I wouldn’t be able to see your direct messages even though…

Encrypted direct messaging should be available to users as early as Wednesday, with calls to follow at an undisclosed later date.
Musk first mentioned the addition of encrypted messaging to his “Twitter 2.0 The Everything App” plan in November 2022, after buying the platform in October 2022 for $44 billion.

Since taking over Twitter, Musk has implemented payment verification, which was mentioned in his November plan, and last month added the option for users to buy and sell shares on the platform through his partnership with the social trading company eToro.

Musk has come under fire for his “tough” leadership style after former employees reported grueling hours and sleeping in the offices. In addition, since he took the helm, he has laid off nearly 6,000 workers, an 80% reduction in the company’s workforce.
