ELON Musk has been criticized on Twitter for taking a nine-minute flight with his private jet.
However, fans have jumped on his defense, noting that the nine-minute flight was only the first part of his journey.
Twitter’s automated bot, @ElonJet, showed Musk’s private jet landing in San Francisco, California after being on the road for just 9 minutes.
Driving time for Musk’s trip would have been about 48 minutes without traffic.
“Elon Musk’s private jet has just flown nine minutes, but it’s best not to put the wrong kind of plastic in your recycling bin,” one Twitter user wrote, attacking the impact of Musk’s jet on natural environment.
“Okay, but you have to keep in mind how painful it is to get stuck in traffic surrounded by Teslas,” another joked.
“Do you have any idea how much 9 minutes of Elon’s time is worth?” Wrote a third party.
However, Elon’s fans jumped on his defense, trying to clear the record.
After landing in San Francisco, @ElonJet shows that Musk took off again and flew to Austin, Texas, which lasted about three hours.
The driving time between San Francisco and Austin is about 25 hours.
Even after learning of the longest flight, not all Twitter users were impressed.
“Criticism (to Musk) is always fair,” one wrote.
Elon Musk has four private jets registered in his name.
According to the BBC, carbon emissions from private jets are significantly worse than any other form of transport.
