A great week of recruiting visits for Virginia’s men’s basketball program continues. Milan Momcilovic, one of the fastest growing prospects in the country during the 2023 class, will pay a visit to UVA on the first weekend in June.
Momcilovic, a four-star power forward from Pewaukee, Wisconsin, is the No. 1 player in the Wisconsin rankings as well as the nation’s No. 8 forward class forward in 2023 (for 247Sports). The 6’8 “forward is already being compared to Dirk Nowitzki and when you look at his highlights, the comparison makes sense. A powerful perimeter shooter with impressive ball handling and passing skills, Momcilovic shows one of the best offensive skills of any player in the class of 2023, especially considering his size.
Here are some of the highlights:
His actions skyrocketed this spring and this continued this weekend at the third session of the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) in Louisville. In five games, Momcilovic averaged 23.2 points per game, shot 45.6% from the court and scored more than 20 points in four of the five games as he rallied in one of the top-scoring performances of the whole event.
Of course, Momcilovic has aroused substantial interest in a growing number of major conference programs. He currently has offers from Marquette, Iowa State, Minnesota, Creighton, Miami, Michigan State, Northwestern, Ole Miss, Texas, UCLA, Xavier and Virginia, which extended an offer to Momcilovic on April 27th. It is also rumored that Kentucky is also in the mix.
So far, Momcilovic has made official visits to the state of Iowa and Minnesota. This weekend, he will be visiting Tony Bennett and the Cavaliers in Charlottesville.
“Tony Bennett is a great coach of all time, and Virginia is a great program of all time,” Momcilovic told Jamie Shaw of On3. “Going there is going to be a lot of fun. Leon Bond is from my area of Wisconsin and he was committed to it. He’s been talking about it a lot, so it would be great.”
Momcilovic will be the third prospect in the 2023 class to visit UVA this week. His Cavalier teammates TJ Power and Jamie Kaiser are also visiting Charlottesville this week.
UVA has yet to secure its first commitment in the 2023 class, but if all goes well this week, that could change very soon.
