NEEDVILLE, Texas – A custom headstone business in Needville is asking for the public’s help after someone stole their company pickup and thousands of dollars worth of headstones Friday morning.
“It’s very heartbreaking because the headstone is the last tangible thing on earth that you can give to a loved one that you’ve lost, and that’s why we take it so seriously to offer this to families. It’s been almost 40 years since we do,” said J&L Monuments owner Jonathan Benson.
Benson told KPRC that the five headstones were in the back of the company’s white 1997 Ford F-450 when they were taken.
“We’ve had this truck for about three or four years, but the crane on the truck has been in our family business for 30 years. It’s a crane that lifts the memorials and puts them in place for the families. It’s probably our biggest asset ” said Benson.
Benson filed a police report with the Needville Police Department. He said the headstones are worth $10,000 to $15,000.

“If you want the truck, get the truck, but granite is for families, that’s somebody’s loved one, think about your loved one,” Benson added.
If you have any information about the headstone or the license plate of the stolen truck NYG-4084, you are asked to call the Needville Police Department and report it.
