Katy Perry was visibly confused during the coronation of King Charles III on Saturday.
The “California Gurls” singer was one of a number of celebrities to attend the momentous occasion at London’s Westminster Abbey, but she seemed to be the only one who couldn’t find her seat. The endearing moment, captured on live TV, has gone hilariously viral.
“Katy Perry can’t find her seat it’s me” one person tweetedwhile another he wrote: “Katy Perry looking for her seat at the coronation is the perfect representative of the United States” – i joked another that their struggle was “the atmospheric equivalent of us trying to find our parents in the supermarket.”
Unlike notable artists who reportedly turned down the opportunity, Perry and Lionel Richie graciously accepted the royal family’s offer to sing at Sunday’s coronation concert. Meanwhile, the speed with which it went viral on Saturday has not escaped the pop star.
she he tweeted soon after“Don’t worry guys, I found my seat.”
Perry arrived all purple, with a short-sleeved jacket and gloves to match her outfit. Although she was wearing a rather large hat to boot, the accessory didn’t cause any problems or become viral memes, unlike those of other attendees on Saturday.
“The way he’s trying to find his seat in that hat, it’s adorable and funny at the same time.” one person tweetedwhile another was a little more cruel: “What the hell is she wearing? She’s hideous, especially the frilly UFO disc on her head!
The “American Idol” judge finally managed to find his seat and witnessed the first British coronation since Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. As it was also the second televised coronation, however, all eyes were on placed in the assistants, and Perry’s brief disorientation.
Fortunately for Perry, who will be joined by British band Take That, Italian opera legend Andrea Bocelli and Welsh singer Bryn Terfel on Sunday, she will likely be on her feet during her performance.
