PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WMBB): Panama City Beach attracts people from all over the Memorial Day weekend.
So what do people do when the weather is bad the week before the holidays?
“Everyone likes to eat when it rains, there’s no one on the beach anymore,” said Angry Tuna restaurant general manager James Koden. “You know, we’re lucky we’re here. This is a good place.”
Koder said this week could have been a record week of sales at Angry Tuna, or at least close.
Seafood is not the only thing that sees this traction.
Local clothing store Coastal Casuals has also increased sales.
“It simply came to our notice then [sales] It’s definitely made a big difference, “said Coastal Casuals store manager Kylie Williamson. out, so it’s definitely gone up a lot. “
And now that the weather is starting to clear just in time for the weekend, tourists can get back out in the sun.
“Our plans are probably to ride a few jet skis and get on a banana boat,” said Carlos Pee, a Tennessee tourist. “You’re probably going to relax on the beach and go get some crab legs if not today or tomorrow. Have a few drinks or something, you know.
Business executives like Kylie Williamson hope the shopping crowds will be turned off while people like Carlos and his cousins enjoy the beach activities.
But that doesn’t mean the rush is over.
Local business managers expect to stay busy at night when everyone returns from the beach to spend the day.
