With the new 750S, McLaren sets a new benchmark for supercar performance and driver excitement.
The lightest and most powerful series-production McLaren, the new rear-wheel-drive, V8-powered 750S, which is available in coupé and convertible form, is unabashedly a supercar for purists. Designed and engineered after meticulous analysis of the famous McLaren 720S, the new 750S combines advances in weight savings, powertrain performance, aerodynamics and dynamic excellence to elevate a benchmark driving experience to new heights. About 30 percent of the 750S’s components are new or modified to deliver these improvements and with them an even greater emotional connection to the car.
“When you have a car recognized by so many drivers as a benchmark, to make something even better you have to examine every detail and work hard to achieve improvements that raise the bar again. That’s what we’ve done with the new 750S and the light weight, V8 engine performance and superb dynamic abilities combine to deliver a supercar driving experience that reaches new heights, with levels of emotional connection that are truly exhilarating “. Michael Leiters, CEO of McLaren Automotive
With all the available carbon fiber and lightweight options selected, the coupe weighs 1,277kg in its lightest, dryest form, delivering a segment-leading power-to-weight ratio of 587bhp per tonne. This is a remarkable 193 kg lighter than its nearest competitor and offers a power-to-weight advantage of 22 PS.
The 750S Spider is designed with the same focus on minimizing weight. It features a Retractable Hard Top (RHT), blast protection system and a tailored rear upper structure of the carbon fiber monocoque, but the strength of the carbon fiber monocoque is such that no additional reinforcement is required. This ensures the Spider is equally impressive in terms of power to weight and leads the segment with 566 PS per tonne, with its lightest dry weight of 1,326 kg.
