
PETOSKEY – Petoskey Public Schools is looking for a new chief financial officer after Branden Wheeler’s last day on the job in December.
The application for the position is currently posted on the district’s website and will be open until January 8.
After the application is closed, Superintendent Jeff Leslie will meet with two board members to conduct interviews.
According to the job description, the CFO will be responsible for providing financial leadership in a manner that supports the district in providing the best educational services with available financial resources; for budgeting, accounting and reporting for district funds; and exercise a leadership role in demonstrating a collaborative approach to fostering better educational outcomes for students.
The district is seeking someone who has valid state certification to serve as the school district’s chief financial officer; an advanced degree in education, accounting or business management; a CPA license; a minimum of five years of experience in a related field, two of which in a supervisory role in education; technological and financial software knowledge; someone who is able to communicate effectively; and someone who has demonstrated leadership ability.

According to the job posting on the Char-Em ISD website, the salary is between $100,000 and $115,000.
The person hired for the role will be expected to manage and supervise staff in the business office as well as those in the transportation, food service, custodial and maintenance departments.
The post said performance will be evaluated annually by the superintendent.
