JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Imagine you can’t get the money you deposited in a bank account after you close it. A small business owner in Madison says he has been fighting Chase Bank for months to return his funds. Thousands of hostages prevent him from sleeping well.
“We’re sleeping on air mattresses because they have my money,” Marquette Young said.
He left Chase Bank on Friday without the $ 1,600.00 deposited in February. The small business owner bought a new home and opened a checking and savings account with two checks from Luckett Land Title and Germantown Construction.
Deposits were funds from real money and home appliance refunds. The checks were settled, but he says the bank closed the account three days later because they could not verify them.
“I called the corporate office; nothing they can do. They said they can’t do anything until the people who wrote the check come to them, ”Young said,“ And I told them I told them, ‘These people don’t work for all of you. Why don’t you send someone there?
According to the owner of the recycling company, he chose Chase because he had a children’s account that he would use to teach his children how to manage money. The rest would be used to furnish your new home. On July 5, the day of her daughter’s birthday, she again tried to get the funds without success. Five months after opening Chase’s accounts, Young remains frustrated and feels that his money is being held hostage.
“Right now, the people in the back office of this building right here are going home [and] put yourself in a big bed, “Young said.” We put on air mattresses because they got my money. “
Justin Page of Chase Bank Regional Communications said the branch team and climbing teams are investigating this. Meanwhile, Young said the continued delay is affecting his business and home life.
“I’m looking for legal advice. I won’t leave you alone,” the Canton owner added.
Although the funds in the checking account were not released, Young was refunded the money from the savings account on Friday.
