Tom Hiddleston expects Loki to appear as bisexual “meaningful to people who saw him.”
The 41-year-old actor plays the first bisexual main character in the Marvel Universe, but Tom admits there is “more to go”.
When asked about starring in the Disney + ‘Loki’ series, Tom replied, “I was very honored to be asked. We all wanted to keep the character’s integrity; I wanted to make sure we didn’t lose the pieces that people loved it while doing something new. “
Tom, who previously played Loki in several Marvel movies, including ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ and ‘Avengers: Infinity War’, admits that Loki came out as bisexual was still just a “small step”.
But he maintains it is an “important” moment for the franchise.
He told The Guardian: “I also hope that Loki is shown to be bisexual. He was significant to the people who saw him. We”.
Loki’s sexuality is addressed in the third episode of the series.
Sylvie, a female character, asks Loki, “What about you? Are you a prince? Should they have been aspiring princesses or maybe another prince?”
And Loki replies, “A little bit of both of you. I suspect the same thing as you.”
Marvel writer Kate Herron has also addressed the issue on Twitter.
He previously wrote on the microblogging platform: “From the moment I joined @LokiOfficial it was very important to me, and my goal, to recognize that Loki was bisexual. (Sic)”.
However, the writer agreed that, for now, this is only a “small step”.
She said: “It’s part of who he is and who I am too. I know it’s a small step, but I’m happy and my heart is so full to say it’s Canon now in #mcu #Loki (sic)”
