Week 8 of the USFL The season began on Friday with a heated showdown between the Pittsburgh Maulers and the New Jersey Generalswho started strong on the road to his seventh straight win, 29-18.
The Generals improve to 7-1 this season, while the Maulers fall to 1-7.

The Generals started the second quarter the same way they started the first: with a TD.

The third time is the charm
The Generals got their third score of the night with a 24-yard TD pass from QB Luis Perez to WR KaVontae Turpin, good for a good double-digit lead.

KaVontae Turpin activated the planes for a 24-yard touchdown to give the New Jersey Generals a 21-7 lead over the Pittsburgh Maulers.
New Jersey added three more points ahead of the half in a monstrous 50-yard field goal, good for a 23-7 lead.
The Generals’ defense came out strong in the second half. First, Dravon Askew-Henry defeated Tre Walker on the opening lap.
Then Generals Toby Johnson’s tackle defeated Rivers with a huge sack.
The Maulers added three points to close out the third box with a 61-yard field goal record.

Victor scored his third goal of the night to extend the Generals’ lead to 29-10 early in the fourth quarter.
The maulers make their move
The Maulers made a run at the end of the game, scoring halfway through the final box and adding to colon conversion to keep things close, 29-18.
Pittsburgh opted for one alternative side stitch – A unique USFL rule where a team can choose to go from the fourth and 12th from its own 33-yard line to gain possession.
Rivers found the newly signed free agent of the Maulers, Jalen McCleskey, to gain an 18-yard gain to keep the ball, but it ended in a missed field goal and things ended here.
