White & Case has expanded its global debt finance practice in Madrid with the addition of a lawyer from Herbert Smith Freehills
Jaime Rossi, who has been acting as a lawyer for HSF since 2020 and advises on financing deals ranging from acquisitions and real estate to restructuring and syndicated loans, is joining the firm as a partner, according to White & Case’s announcement. Before moving to HSF, Rossi worked at Fieldfisher, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Garrigues, where he began his legal career.
The lease follows the addition of M&A Madrid Partner Javier Monzónwho joined the company earlier this summer after 16 years at Freshfields. At the time of Monzón’s hiring in June, executive committee member Oliver Brettle said the move “sends a clear message to the market that we are investing in Madrid for the long term.”
White & Case’s Madrid office is made up of more than 20 lawyers, dedicated to domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, capital markets and banking finance.
Partner Eric Leicht, head of the global debt finance practice, said of the appointment of Jaime Rossi: “Adding another experienced debt finance lawyer like Jaime to the partner mix in Madrid sends a clear message that we are not we have resolved and that we intend to continue acting for some of the largest and most sophisticated players in the Spanish market”.
Brettle added: “Jaime is the fourth lateral partner to join our successful EMEA banking practice in 2022.” The firm’s global debt financing practice was hired in London Monica Barton of Winston & Strawn i Skadden’s Paul Yin. in Paris, Neeloferr Roy joined Linklaters practice.
