Joel Piroe scored both goals as Swansea City dealt a heavy blow to Wigan Athletic’s Championship survival hopes.
Piroe produced two clinical finishes before missing out on a first-half hat-trick when he hit a post.
The near miss didn’t matter to Swansea as they dominated a Wigan side that lacked attacking inspiration.
Latics remain bottom of the table, eight points from safety with just five games to play.
After just one win in their last 11 games, Shaun Maloney’s side will need a dramatic upturn in fortunes to avoid an immediate return to League One.
Swansea are 13th after finding some late-season form, with Russell Martin’s side claiming 10 points from their last four games.
